Another Halloween is upon us and that means another Freakfest for Downtown Madison. Since Freakfest started in 2006 as a response to the several years of Halloween riots on State Street, thousands of Madison residents and their friends have seen some incredible music acts and celebrated in costume.
The Bands Playing Freakfest
This year, you have more than 15 bands to choose from on 3 different stages! Some of the names should be familiar to most of us in Wisconsin and surrounding areas. Diane Coffee has spent a lot of time in Wisconsin and played at Summerfest this past year. Anderson .Paak has worked with Dr. Dre on his Album “Compton” in 2015. He will be on the Mountain Dew Capitol Stage with the Free Nationals.
If you are a Country Music fan, Jon Pardi is opening for Kip Moore on the 96.3 Star Country Stage around 10:45pm. Adam Bartels is from Southwestern Wisconsin and has played plenty of country shows around the area and the Mid-West. Tickets are still available for $10 at plenty of locations around Downtown Madison. Prices will climb to $15 on the day of the event.
Things to Know About Freakfest
The ticket prices help offset the costs for security, Madison Police and partially, the bands. No food or beverages are sold at Freakfest. This is your chance to support the local bars and restaurants around State Street and Downtown in order to get your drinks and food. There are 4 ticket locations: State Street and Lake, University and Gilman, Johnson and State and Carroll and Johnson. Entrances to State Street will be shut down several hours before Freakfest begins, so plan accordingly. Union Cab will be providing rides out of Freakfest. If heading East or North, find them near the Concourse Hotel. If heading back towards campus or west, head towards Fresh Madison Market or the Chazen Museum.
The festivities start around 7:30 pm this Saturday, October 29th. Let’s celebrate Halloween safely and have a lot of fun at the same time! Happy Freakfest & Happy Halloween!
