It’s that time of year. You’ve just moved into your apartment, are finally settling in, and suddenly you’re already being asked about renewing your lease for the 2018-2019 lease term! You may be thinking “I don’t even know if I’m going to like who I’m living with or where I’m living now, so how am I supposed to choose for next year already?”. We totally understand!
Madison’s campus area market is a unique one. Almost all apartments in the campus area begin leasing for the following fall nearly 11 months in advance. It seems crazy, we know, but MPM adheres to this schedule in order to be as fair and efficient as possible for our residents and property owners.
With more and more apartments now implementing a “no painting rule”, there’s no need to worry! You can still make your apartment look just as good without painting. We’re sharing 5 options to spruce up your walls that are temporary, easily removable, and don’t involve painting! As always, check with your landlord first.

You may have read our post last year about ‘Getting Ready to Move‘, but we felt it necessary to share it again (with a few updates) because you can never be too prepared to move out of your apartment. Moving season for non-campus area apartments is here, so be prepared and avoid stress by following these helpful tips and advice.

Finding a new apartment can sometimes be challenging. What’s more challenging is if you are unable to view a unit before signing a lease for it. Whether you are unable to get off work during the available showing hours, you live out of state, or you are moving from another country, we have a few tips for you when it comes to signing for an apartment “sight unseen”.
What does “Sight Unseen” actually mean?
Although the snow has arrived, now is the time to be thinking about subletting for the summer. Whether you are graduating, studying abroad or just heading home for the summer, you probably don’t want to be stuck paying for rent while not living there, right? Subletting your apartment is the perfect option and we have all of the information you need to know before you start subletting.
What is a Sublet anyway?
Subletting is when you are leasing out a portion of your lease to another person that is not originally involved in the lease agreement. The sublet tenant will be responsible for the lease terms and obligations, however keep in mind that the original tenant is not let out of their responsibilities when subletting.
What is the point of having renter’s insurance anyway? Do I really need it? Aren’t I just throwing away money that I could use on other things, such as that new sofa chair I’ve been wanting for my living room? These are some of the questions you may be asking yourself when thinking about renter’s insurance. Whether you’re renting an apartment, condo, or home in Madison, renter’s insurance is a must. It is required for most rentals now a days, but even if it is not required, here is some basic information on renter’s insurance and why it’s worth having for your apartment.
